This product was bought in mine for using as a light for when I escort fallen troops or welcoming home troops as a patriot guard rider. Its works great I just had to glue a piece on that enables the light to turn. A quick fix for something minor. Since then it works just fine.

The light is good, the magnet is strong, but who designed the cord? My truck, like most vehicles, has a power outlet in the middle of the dashboard, below the radio. To actually plug this in and attach it to the top of the truck, you have to stretch it to its full length, straight across the steering wheel and stick it at the connection of the door and the roof. It would be dangerous and near impossible to actually drive your vehicle with this light on. Don't think you'll be like Starsky and Hutch and be able to just swing this baby up and slap it on the roof and go. And, there is no on-off switch. If its plugged in, it flashes. If the manufacturer had given you about three more feet of cord, this would be a terrific item for your car. As it is, it's moderately useful. At $20 its still a "buy" for me, but if you can find a similar product with a longer cord, go for it.

After nearly being run over while changing a tire I wanted something to make myself a little more visible if it should happen again. The Wolo 3200-A seemed a logical choice to keep in the trunk of my car until needed. After it arrived I did a little non-scientific testing to see how much additional warning it might provide.
A great product at night, it can be seen for a very long distance. Daytime use was less impressive but did seem to attract a little more attention than my 4-way flashers alone. The sharply focused rotating mirror caused a brief, bright flash about once a second from an otherwise lackluster bulb.
As another reviewer has noted, the coiled cord is way too short when the cigarette lighter or power outlet is in the center of the vehicle. It would barely reach the roofline of the car, much less have enough length to be placed in a central position. The cord needs to be either non-coiled or at least double the current length to make it a really good solution.
Update 6/11/2010: I had mounted the light on top of my car during a recent storm spotting foray. Between my forward speed (55mph) and a big wind gust near a severe thunderstorm, my Wolo light's magnet was unable to hold it on my car and it blew off and was destroyed. My recommendation would be to only use this light for low-speed situations.

for the price, i guess i shouldn't expect perfect construction. out of the box, the solder job in the lighter plug was loose, and not working. i re soldered that, and a week later inside stand for the rotating light came loose, super glued that. been working fine for a couple of months now, but if you are not "handy" , get a more expensive, better made light.
