The Term "Luxury" is Used Loosely... Snuggie vs. SlanketJan 06, 2010
By G. Robson Ok, we all know that Snuggies reign supreme in their cheesy infomercial glory, but those that laugh have obviously never tried them. What's not to enjoy about snuggling up on your couch, all warm and comfy, whilst still retaining full use of your arms? Being the proud owner of a generation 1 slanket, I thought I'd give the snuggie a try, and went for the microplush, since I'm not a fan of faux fleece. Despite the upgrade, the material was still cheap and required an immediate wash to remedy the explosive shedding upon first snuggle. But all in all, it is an improvement to the slanket. The useless pockets make me smile and the length is perfect compared to slanket's not-quite-long-enough-for-an-average-adult dimensions. I could have done without the giant, scratchy Snuggie label on the wrist, but hey, its a compromise.

An Improvment Over the Original, But Still Cheap Quality!Jan 11, 2011

"Still shooting with Film!"
My wife is absolutely crazy for sleeved blankets and I admit that there are nights where even I am fond of them. They make you look a little strange but you quickly learn to not care what you look like as they really can be a savior during really cold nights especially if your up at a cottage or out camping, basically places where you wish for normal heated rooms. Anyways we have been on the sleeved blanket bandwagon since the very first year the Slanket was released and we have over the years tried just about every brand of sleeved blankets that exists. We were given 2 regular Snuggies as gifts last year and we absolutely hated them. The quality of the fleece is atrocious and it literally starts pilling after just 1 or 2 washes. Its really the cheapest quality fleece I have ever seen. What some people don't understand is that pretty much every fleece in the world is soft and cozy to begin with, it isn't until they are used a little bit that a fleeces true quality comes out and again the original Snuggie is without a doubt one of the cheapest quality fleeces I have ever seen. We ended up giving our Snuggies to the Salvation Army and purchased more Slankets.
Anyways given the fondness that my wife has for these kinds of blankets, anytime I stumble across a new version or a new company producing them, I always buy one for her to try out. I stumbled across the microplush Snuggie a few months back and swiped one up. Even tho the price was basically double the original version's price, I had serious doubts whether or not this would be anything more than a simple upgrade from the original. Unfortunately my suspicions were well founded as this blanket is practically just as bad as the original. The difference is instead of it being the cheapest fleece I had ever seen, the new version is the cheapest microplush I have ever seen.
I knew right off the bat that we were in trouble because as soon as we pulled the blanket out of the package, it littered our floor with a ton of little piles of microplush. I then proceeded to shake it and a ton more fell off. We immediately tossed it in the dryer for 30 minutes on low to try and get all the loose microplush off the blanket. It succeeded yet each and every time we have washed and dried the blanket, the lint basket is absolutely overflowing with more microplush. Don't get me wrong this is a definite improvement over the original Snuggie then again that isn't really saying much as the original was absolutely horrid and your paying double the price so shouldn't higher in quality be a given? Basically this Snuggie suffers from the same problem that the original Snuggie suffers from, that being the use of cheap fabric. Basically what this blanket teaches you is that super cheap quality microplush is better than and preferable to super cheap quality fleece.
Bottom line - Buying an original Snuggie was one thing as at least then you were saving 15-20 bucks over buying a Slanket. What makes this Snuggie so bad is that you could have gone out and purchased a Slanket for the same price and I can tell you with 100% certainty that while super cheap microplush is better than super cheap fleece, its not better than high quality fleece. Slanket still wins in our book. In fact, its still not even close. Its the difference between something cheap and something high in quality. Buy a Slanket if you want a sleeved blanket as is still the best option on the market.
Sorry Snuggie, better luck next time.
2 stars.
Much better than fleeceJan 03, 2011
By Linda The MicroPlush snuggie costs a bit more than the original fleece version, but it is worth it. The MicroPlush is softer, extremely warm, and does not create the enormous amounts of static electricity that fleece does. Hopefully the MicroPlush will have a greater variety in colors in the future.
Wife Loves Her SnuggieDec 25, 2010

I bought my wife a snuggie 2 years ago as a Christmas gag gift, I did buy the luxury snuggie because it was thicker than the regular snuggie, it was also about $15.00 more then the regular one. We both laughed when she opened it, then she used it one night and absolutely fell in love with the stupid thing. We travel weekly with our jobs and live out of a suitcase, she takes the snuggie with her. I have been looking for another one for her, so she can have keep one in her suitcase and have one at home. I could not find the luxury snuggie anywhere, just the regular ones. I finally drilled down in Amazon and found the luxury snuggie, so she got another one for Christmas this year!
Horrible Item - Buyer's RemorseDec 18, 2010
By joseph I purchased this item as a gift. When it arrived, I knew from reading about this product that you were supposed to wash it to try to eliminate the horrible shedding. As soon as I opened the package, there was so much blue fuzz all over my clothes, the table, my jeans, everything it touched was covered in blue fuzz. I washed the item according to the instructions and then placed it in the dryer.
I knew something was wrong as soon as I opened the dryer and checked the lint screen. It was entirely covered with blue fuzz and tiny white balls of something. It looked similar to when you place a rug in the dryer and some of the white lining underneath the rug starts to come apart.
I pulled the snuggie from the dryer and there were holes everywhere. The thing simply disintegrated. Totally disappointing. I know that the older version of these things is made from a different material and that is what I will be buying as a replacement, or something entirely different.
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
